EATON COMPRESSOR

Eaton Compressor is on the agenda for Planning Board on Tuesday, February 12, 2008.  They would like to split approximately 10 acres from property owned by Charlie Brandenburg and Willard Laymaster, off of Industrial Drive, along the Fairgrounds driveway.  A major site plan for this new development has been prepared and is also scheduled for presentation to Planning Board.  Eaton Compressor and the City of Brookville, Ohio, are in process of making an agreement, an apparent more-attractive agreement for Eaton Compressor, for the new development to be constructed in Brookville.   It was Council’s desire to make an attempt to retain Eaton Compressor in the City of Eaton.  The owner, Matt Cain, could not attend the meeting; the builder, John Buckley, and the OGDC Director Hal Yoder were also in attendance.  After discussion, it was decided that the City Manager would research a plan to present to Eaton Compressor consisting of the City giving up to $20,000 in infrastructure improvements, possibly include tap/capacity fees and/or offer an enterprise zone which would take up to 9 months to get in place.  A report will be given at the Tuesday, February 19, 2008 Council meeting.   Involvement by the County in this transaction was discussed.  Offering incentives, future annexations and enterprise zones were discussed.
